{"id":4976,"date":"2014-08-19T06:00:59","date_gmt":"2014-08-19T04:00:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.military-history.us\/?p=4976"},"modified":"2014-08-05T07:13:54","modified_gmt":"2014-08-05T05:13:54","slug":"emperor-augustus-passes-away","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.military-history.us\/2014\/08\/emperor-augustus-passes-away\/","title":{"rendered":"Emperor Augustus Passes Away"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On this day 2,000 years ago the reign of the first Roman Emperor <a href=\"http:\/\/www.military-history.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/statue-augustus.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-4977 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/www.military-history.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/statue-augustus-240x300.jpg\" alt=\"statue-augustus\" width=\"240\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.military-history.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/statue-augustus-240x300.jpg 240w, https:\/\/www.military-history.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/statue-augustus.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/><\/a><span style=\"color: #252525;\"><strong>IMPERATOR CAESAR DIVI F AVGVSTVS<\/strong> born\u00a0<em>Gaius Octavius<\/em>\u00a0<\/span>ended when he passed away at the age of 75 at <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nola\">Nola<\/a> after a short illness. \u00a0Supposedly his last words were &#8211; <em>&#8220;Have I played the part well?
